We are establishing the email contact lists and possible venues depending on the likely number of attendees - we will confirm the date and venue for you to speak by 30 Oct 2008 - will that be OK ? Josh - could we have the Power-point presentation and hand-out about a week before the meeting because we place them on the web so people can review them after the meeting ? Here are some examples from the OIC Local Government Special Interest Group BACKGROUND SAN 2088 The Mosman Sustainability Action Network [SAN-2088] developed from a number of parents whose children were involved with local Junior Sports clubs. In 2005 parents had developed the Junior Sports Information System [JSIS] to as a self-funding system to enable local business to sponsor Junior Sports Clubs and provide funds so the Clubs could comply with the Child Protection legislation JSIS provides a Parent reporting service that enable Parents to check that any Junior Sport club has carried out the Child Protection checks This requirement arose because there were numerous newspaper articles stating Clubs were not complying with the legislation eg SMH 27 Aug 2006 In addition at one of the seminars in Jun 2007 attendees spoke about number of anomalies in how parents were being charges fees for Junior Sports Club registrations including: 1 "Elastic" pricing of fees 2 Double dipping on Insurance 3 No explanation of fee structure This was confirmed by a Sun-Herald article on 27 Sep 2007 Levies leave our youngsters without a sporting chance As we became involve with the Local Councils we found that many Councils were setting up extensive sports field lighting systems but not checking how much in Carbon Credits and electricity was being charged to the parents and rate-payers This is a letter from one group of residents asking about the "excessive use of power to create light power 40% in excess of the required standard" We then became very aware that the local Councils were really becoming controlled by policies dictated by the local Regional Organisation of Council [ROC] in the case of Mosman, Manly, Pittwater and Warringah Councils it is SHOROC Then in Jul 2008 some of the parents attended the "Green Transformers" Seminar sponsored by Sydney Council with Allan JONES MBE outlining the savings over 10 years by Woking Council This led to the formation of the Mosman Sustainability Action Network [SAN-2088] to assist local residents and local businesses to understand Sustainability issues and invite people like yourself to inform us about the latest developments in Climate Change from the Youth Climate Coalition NEXT STEPS We look forward to meeting with you and will contact you later in about 2 weeks with more details on the likely date and venue regards Stephen GOULD Peter AXTENS LLB Pim RAVESTIJN Hon Secretary Compliance Officer Education/Awareness SUSTAINABILITY ACTION NETWORK [SAN-2088] Co-ordinator On 24 Sep 08, at 15:43, Josh - Youth Delegation to Poznan 2008 wrote: > Dear Stephen > > This sounds great!
