	CANDIDATE REGISTRATION PROCESS PROBLEM

We write to provide reasons for the addition of 3 Candidates for 
the Mosman Sustainability Action Network [SAN-2088] for the Mosman 
Local Government Election Ballor Paper on Sat 13 Sep 2008

The Mosman Council web-site appears to have missed a very important
web-site for Candidate Nominations namely
http://www.elections.nsw.gov.au 

A	PROCESS FOLLOWED FOR CANDIDATE REGISTRATION

I as the Hon Secretary of SAN-2088 completed the following process 
for the Registration of 3 Candidates for the Mosman Elections

A	16 Jul 2008 Attended the LGSA seminar with Gerry Holmes
	"So, you want to be on Council"

	I attended a 3-hr meeting and received a 13-page booklet 
	but was not informed that a Candidate needed to complete a 
	nomination form with 2 registered voters as nominators

B	Reviewed the Mosman Council Website with links to the following

election processes?

Go to the NSW Electoral Commission website (www.elections.nsw.gov.au) 
for detailed information about nomination, voting and election
processes.

Go to the Election Funding Authority website (www.efa.nsw.gov.au) for
information regarding candidates', registered political parties' and donors'
obligations to disclose.

Each council can also provide information on the timetable and nomination
forms."

The Mosman Council website does not provide information on the Nominations 
Forms

C	On Tue 12 Aug 2008 the 3 Candidates faxed Registration forms to 
	the fax address on the form (02) 9290-5991 

D	No-one from the Election Funding Authority NSW contacted
	any of the 3 Candidates on Wed 13 Aug 2008 to inform them that the
	Registration Forms and a Nomination Form had to be registered with 
	the Mosman Returning Offier 

E	On Fri 15 Aug Peter AXTENS completed the On-line Accredition process
	as SAN-2088 Offical Agent

F	On Tue 19 Aug 2008 we discovered our Nominations were not included
	in the Mosman Ballot paper

G	On Wed 20 Aug 2008 I contacted Brian NEWGENT of the NSW Candidate 
	Helpline who informed me that the Applications should have been
	faxed to you.

NEXT STEPS 

As we registered our Applications in time on 12 Aug 2008 please
Include the SAN Candidates in the Mosman Council Ballot Paper
